To the editor:
I’d like to ask my fellow citizens’ support on March 20 for election as their newest Village Board of Trustee member.
I love living and working right here in the Village of Fayetteville with my husband, Nathan, and our three children. We reside in the Brookside neighborhood. Our son is in college, our daughter is at F-M High School and our youngest boy attends BOCES for special needs. I have had the pleasure of serving in the Brookside Neighborhood Association for the past year.
We came to Fayetteville to enjoy village life and I want to see it preserved for future generations. Our village has been run well, but recent issues concerning increased traffic and massive development proposals call for a more diverse village board with competing visions, not status quo. I’m concerned that preserving the special and historic character of the village is not being addressed. Also, there are no women on the board, and there are no incumbents who live east of the village center.
The Village of Fayetteville is indeed a special place, which is why we have to work hard to move our community forward in a way that preserves what we are and yet keeps an open mind about what we can be. There will be many tough choices over the next few years, especially in the area of development proposals that will come before the board. I ask to be your new voice in the village. I am a diligent and concerned village resident who will look at each new issue independently.
I humbly ask for your vote during the village election held on March 20. The ballot will be held at the Fayetteville Village Hall from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and your participation is very important as Fayetteville creates a better future.
