To the editor:
I would like to thank the Fayetteville-Manlius School District residents who took time out of their busy schedules on Dec. 5 to vote on the district’s $45.2 million facilities project proposal.
We know that our residents must make tough financial decisions in their personal lives, so I am extremely appreciative of the support our community gave to this project. Please know that the administration and board of education understand that with your support comes an obligation to our taxpayers to wisely use our resources.
This vote was several years in the making. Our goal all along was to be transparent and welcoming of community input, as it is the community’s children these projects will ultimately impact and residents’ local and state tax dollars that will support it.
With the community’s authorization of this project, we will now begin the process of finalizing details for our design plans to be submitted to the state education department. This will be a lengthy process that we anticipate will result in project plans being delivered to the state in July 2018 for Enders Road Elementary School, F-M High School and energy-related projects districtwide, followed by plans for Wellwood Middle School in November 2018.
As we move forward, we will continue to provide updates on our progress. Thank you for making this investment in our community, our children and the facilities in which they are educated.
Craig J. Tice, Superintendent
Fayetteville-Manlius School District
