SYRACUSE — Determined to keep its place near the top of the CNY Counties League standings, the Baldwinsville boys swim team paid a visit to Le Moyne College last Wednesday night and took on Cicero-North Syracuse.
And it turned into a showcase for each of the Bees’ top swimmers as the brother tandem of Ryan and Alex Hiltbrand each won two races, helping B’ville build an insurmountable lead as it went on to bash the Northstars 102-73 and improved to 6-1 on the season.
Alex Hiltbrand’s effort began in the 200-yard medley relay where, paired with John Sidorakis, Nick Schultz and Dan Watkins, he helped B’ville get first place in one minute, 51.13 seconds.
Moving to individual races, Alex Hiltbrand was first in the 50 freestyle in 24.29 seconds, and then claimed the 100 butterfly in 1:00.75. Then Hiltbrand joined Watkins, Ryan App and Kevin Atkinson as they roared to a 200 freestyle relay time of 1:38.71.
Meanwhile, Ryan Hiltbrand stuck to races, breaking the two-minute mark to win the 200 freestyle in 1:59.18, and then going to the 500 freestyle relay and winning that race, too, in a clocking of 5:23.11. Sidorakis, for his part, won the 200 individual medley in 2:13.72.
B’ville returns home to the Baker High School pool this Thursday to face the combined Syracuse city team, it last scheduled regular-season meet.
