SYRACUSE — By a margin of just six points, the Baldwinsville boys indoor track and field team missed getting a victory during the morning session of Saturdays’ Fred Kirschenheiter Memorial invitational at SRC Arena.
All told, the Bees, with a series of individual and relay titles, picked up 75 points, just behind Fayetteville-Manlius, who won with 81 points. The Hornets also won the girls title with 104 points over West Genesee (83 points) as B’ville, with 52 points, was fourth behind Skaneateles’ 56 points.
In a close boys 55-meter hurdles, B’ville’s Evan Donhauser, in 8.03 seconds, held off East Syracuse Minoa’s Jeremy McGrath (8.07 seconds) and claimed victory. Then, in the 3,200-meter run, Ryan Delola won in 10:13.11, pulling away from the field by more than 14 seconds as Ben Timmons got fourth place in 10:44.15.
Kieran Sheriden earned another B’ville title in the 300-meter dash, going 38.47 seconds to hold off Mexico’s Logan Burrows (38.62 seconds), while Tyler Luciano got fourth place in 39.27 seconds. Luciano also was sixth (18’11 ¼”) in the long jump.
Judson Fletcher was victorious in the shot put, as his best throw of exactly 40 feet topped Altmar-Parish-Williamstown’s Takota Jacobson (37’9 ½”) by more than two feet. Anthony Sellers finished 12th.
Denis Keegan, Evan Vannatta, Dennis Vannatta and Connor McManus earned second place in the 4×800 relay in 8:53.18, just behind F-M (8:52.74) at the wire. Evan Vannatta needed 2:42.78 to finish second behind Syracuse ITC’s Solomon Lawrence (2:38.22) in the 1,000-meter run, with Keegan seventh in 2:50.86.
Greg Porceng gained fourth place in the 600-meter run in 1:30.99 as Adam Davis, in 4:44.72, beat out Ethan Craig (4:50.49) for sixth place in the mile. The Bees’ quartet of Donhauser, Andrew Guido, Austin Catalano and Elijah Edmonds-Reed was fourth in the 4×200 relay in 1:42.37 as Sam Kellner, Tim Demjaneko, Broc Augustus and Sam Bull were sixth in the 4×400 relay in 4:06.45. Josh Scholten tied for ninth in the high jump, clearing 5 feet.
continued — On the girls side, Hailey Couchman dominated the long jump, going 16 feet 8 inches, more than half a foot ahead of the field as Marina Blasi (14’3 ½”) finished 12th. Then Anna Miller, in the shot put, threw it 30’ ½” to win that event, too, with Brina Edmonds getting fifth place as she had a top throw of 26’3 ½”.
Adriana Straughter cleared 4’8” in the high jump to get second place behind Skaneateles’ Mia Grasso, who went 4’10” as Kourtnee Allen was eighth for the Bees, clearing 4’6”. Lauren Place cleared 6’6” in the pole vault for a third-place finish.
Also, Tina Bartelli, in the 300-meter dash, finished in 44.48 seconds, a runner-up to West Genesee’s Megan Delia (43.20 seconds) as Anna Demer took seventh place in 44.48 seconds. Bartelli and Demer, paired with Katherine Siddall and Katie Wicks, got to fifth place in the 4×200 in 1:57.38.
Elizabeth Fawwaz took fifth place in the 1,500-meter run in 5:35.55, with Sophie Simone in seventh place. Haleigh Jaquint managed sixth place in the 55 hurdles in 9.84 seconds, with Adriana Straughter ninth.
Sarah Rodman was sixth (3:22 flat), edging Mia Bolton (3:22.80), in the 1,000, also helping Patricia Conlan, Madison Dickter and Kayleigh Sattler finish fifth (11:09.88) in the 4×800. Leah Carpenter was eighth in the 3,000-meter run, with Nadine Dickter 10th. Conlan got 11th place in the 600, with Hannah Klaben 11th in the 55 sprint.
