The presence of Ashley Winn in sprint races almost meant automatic points for the Cazenovia girls track and field team in recent years.

And Winn’s absence was felt inTuesday’s Section III Class B-1 championship meet, held at the same Chittenango High School track where the OHSL Liberty division meet was held a week earlier.

Cazenovia finished with 86 points, beating everyone in the B-1 field except Skaneateles, who again got the best of the Laker rivalry by earning 100 points and the sectional title.

Ashley Kent and Liz Pittman still had a 1-2 finish in the triple jump, as Kent went 33 feet 1 inch and Pittman, going 31’7 ½”, was runner-up. Kent also took third in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.22 seconds.

In the pole vault, Pittman finished on top, the only athlete to clear 9 feet as Glenna Kehelan (7 feet) shared second place. Pittman also earned second place in the long jump, going 14’10 ½”.

Jeanette Cudney went 11:14.73 for second place in the 3,000-meter run behind CBA’s Megan Ann Pierce (10:46.79), adding a sixth in the 1,500-meter run. Megan Stanford contended in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 1:11.89, just behind Skaneateles’ Raenah Campbell, who won in 1:11.08.

Tori Fischer topped 4’6” for third place in the high jump. Lizzy Bigsby stood in second place in the pentathlon with 1,359 points, and Bella Wheeler was sixth, when weather cut the meet short.

Cazenovia’s 4×800 relay team of Cudney, Stanford, Colleen Stalder and Maureen Milmoe earned second place in a time of 10:06.88, while Skaneateles won in 9:58 flat. Maria Stalder, who was sixth in the 400-meter dash (1:06.02), joined Stanford, Evelyn Wells and Bailey Forrett to finish fifth in the 4×400 relay (4:23.40).

Chittenango, on its home track, picked up 21 points in the B-1 meet. Anna Galbraith was third in the 3,000 in 11:16.86, with Sarah Moon third in the 1,500-meter run (5:03.42) as Kaitlyn Swain got to fourth place (1:04.71) in the 400-meter dash.

Krissy Roberts finished fourth in the triple jump (29’10 ¼”) behind Kent and Pittman, while Kaitlyn Boyer was sixth in the 200-meter dash.
