All through the spring, the Jamesville-DeWitt boys and girls track and field teams left OHSL Freedom division opponents far behind.

Such was the case again Wednesday afternoon, when the Red Rams completed dual 7-0 runs through the league, sweeping Homer and Mexico.

J-D’s girls team roared past the Trojans 102-39 and the Tigers 122-19, winning most of the events. By herself, Natalie Mannion prevailed twice, going 32 feet 7 1/2 inches in the triple jump and 15 feet 8 inches in the long jump.

Also, Mannion teamed with Marae Tearney, Ameena Dye and Linsay Royer as the Rams took the 4×100 relay in 52.6 seconds. Later, in the 4×400, Mannion and Royer were back, this time with Liz Pieri and Katy Pieri as J-D prevailed in 4:18.6.

Tearney again pulled her unique double of winning the 100-meter dash (13.1 seconds) and the shot put, the latter with a toss of 33 feet 5 3/4 inches. Liz Pieri would also grab two titles, needing 1:04.9 in the 400-meter dash and 27.7 seconds to take first in the 200-meter dash.

Dye took her turn in the 3,000-meter run, posting a time of 11:25.5 as Paige Morrow, Eileen Cody and Danielle Doss joined her in the 4×800 relay, which J-D won in 10:41.0. Doss cleared 7 feet 6 inches in the pole vault as Tangela Hightower threw the discus 78 feet 8 inches.

Meanwhile, the J-D boys team, who beat Mexico 92-48 and Homer 99-42, saw Michael Griffin take the spotlight in the sprints, needing 11.4 seconds to win the 100 and 23 seconds to claim the 200.

Bumkoth Jiak needed 4:33.7 to win the mile, and covered 800 meters in a swift time of 1:55.7. Michael Paul threw the discus 129 feet 4 inches and the shot put 42 feet 11 inches, winning both times.

Jiak, Tim Kendrick, Will Sterriker and Max Smith teamed up in the 4×400, where J-D won in 3:37.5, as Smith and Kendrick joined Tyler Petersen and Austin Davis for a 4×800 win in 9:12.2.

David Salbert would win another triple jump, going 41 feet 8 inches, as he, along with Sterriker, Christian Sias and Eric Semmel, ran the 4×100 in 45.5 seconds.
