Both of Canastota’s cross country teams ran in the 67th E.J. Herrmann Invitational at Proctor Park in Utica, the state’s second-oldest annual meet. And for the second time in as many weeks, Allison Lasnicki proved quicker than anyone else in the girls field, which in Utica included 34 teams. Lasnicki’s time of 19 minutes, 2.5 seconds beat everyone, including a group from state powerhouse Saratoga Springs where Keelin Hollowood (19:06.7) was right behind Lasnicki. She also had won the top time at the Sept. 19 Chittenango Invitational at Jamesville Beach. As a team in the Girls No. 2 Race, Canastota was sixth, with 163 points, long from the pace Holy Names (34 points) set. Marrissa Williams finished 20th, in 21:54.4, while Francesca Popple took 23rd place in 22:27.5. On the boys side in Race No. 2, , the Raiders, with 97 points, edged past New Hartford (99 points) for second place in a 15-team field as Sauquoit Valley won with 63 points. Aaron Walker did quite well, his time of 17:22.4 beating everyone in the field except David Richards (Cobleskill), who won in 16:55.9. Alex Spara worked his way to eighth place, in 17:56.6, while Zach Skolnick finished 10th in 18:02.5. Erick Wells was 40th (19:52.2) as Frank Slaunwhite finished 41st in 19:58.8, just six-tenths of a second behind Wells.
