When the Cazenovia girls basketball team played Solvay Thursday at Buckley Gym for its third game in four nights, the Lakers didn’t show much fatigue, dominating from the start in a 59-37 romp over the Bearcats. Swarming on both ends in the first quarter, the Lakers allowed just one field goal and zoomed to a 17-2 advantage. From that point on, the margin kept growing, even though Solvay, led by Tessa Pucello’s 18 points, would find the basket with more regularity. Staying consistent, Kiley Evans finished with 20 points, and got some new support from Kim Washbon, who set a season mark with 10 points as Kassie Kleine also got 10 points. Katie Kleine earned six points. This surge left Cazenovia at 9-2 going into next Wednesday’s game at Marcellus and next Friday’s visit from Skaneateles, the preludes to a huge Jan. 28 showdown with Westhill.
