Even before the calendar turned to April, the Christian Brothers Academy boys lacrosse team had passed through major tests by knocking off Class B foes like Jamesville-DeWitt and Cortland, the latter in an overtime classic.

Thus, the Brothers were flush with confidence when it went to Solvay’s Earl Hadley Stadium last Wednesday night and put up big numbers against “Holy War” rival Bishop Ludden, toppling the Gaelic Knights 19-7.

Not bothered one bit by modest 4-3 advantage at the end of the first quarters, the Brothers simply got faster and more electric, and before Ludden could react, CBA enjoyed a 12-5 halftime advantage.

From there, the Brothers kept building its margin behind an attack where 10 different players managed to get goals.

Jack Harmatuk led the way, scoring four times and adding an assist. Jovan Miller and Brian Messe each had three-goal hat tricks, with Devin Daly and Tom Trasolini earning two goals apiece.

Craig Lange, like Daly, had two assists, to go with his single goal. Conor Webster, Casey Lasda, Ty Murphy and Nate Frechette also landed goals. Brad Kirch led Ludden with two goals and two assists.

Following a Monday trip to Onondaga, the Brothers get a big test Thursday when long-time power LaFayette visits Alibrandi Stadium.
