Inching closer to an undefeated regular season, the Hamilton boys basketball team did not let up for one moment in that quest. When the Emerald Knights, still no. 3 in the state Class D rankings, visited DeRuyter last Tuesday night (the game was moved up from its original Feb. 3 date), it cranked up the defensive pressure and pushed past the Rockets 58-20 to make it 15 wins in a row. As if racing out to an 18-2 lead in the frst quarter wasn’t enough, Hamilton maintained the heat, so much so that it shut out DeRuyter in the third quarter while registering 19 unanswered points and claiming a 47-9 edge. Before going to the bench in the fourth quarter, Kylie Martin, Jess Brawn and Jordan Peterson were all outscoring the entire DeRuyter roster. Martin had 19 points, while Brawn gained 15 points and Peterson finished with 11 points. Hamilton plays again Friday against Richfield Springs, looking for 16-0.
