All of the players are in town and the “oldest established permanent floating dice game in New York” is about to come to life on stage as the Jordan-Elbridge Musical Players present the Tony Award-winning musical fable of Broadway, “Guys and Dolls,” in the Jordan-Elbridge High School Auditorium, 5721 Hamilton Road, Jordan on Friday March 19 and Saturday March 20 at 8 p.m. Reserved seating tickets are $12 each and general admission tickets will be available at the door for $9. For ticket information call 689-8500 ext. 1700 or visit jecsd.org. Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, this oddball romantic comedy, considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, soars with the spirit of Broadway as it introduces audiences to a cast of vivid characters who have become legends in the canon: Sarah Brown (Stephanie Pieklik), the upright but uptight “mission doll,” out to reform the evildoers of Time Square; Sky Masterson (Elliot Kline), the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love; Adelaide (Briana Duger) , the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she’s been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit (Matt Fabrizio), her devoted fianc (c), desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap (dice) game. The loveable characters of Damon Runyon first took to the stage in the early 1950’s and were recently revived on Broadway in 2008. The well-known movie version starred Marlon Brando as Sky Masterson and Frank Sinatra as Nathan Detroit. These two gamblers, along with a host of other high-rollers and con-artists, are led to a more “honest” lifestyle through the efforts of Sarah Brown and her Save-A-Soul Mission. The score includes such memorable songs as “Luck Be a Lady,” “A Bushel and a Peck” and “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat.” The creative team for “Guys and Dolls” includes Denise Deapo (Director), Marisa Fagliarone (Vocal Direction), Diane Crowley (Choreography), Maria Hare (Pit Band Director), Drew Deapo (Technical Director), Becky O’Hara (Costume Designer), Catherine Kline (Properties), Tallon Larham (Makeup), Tom Kline (Master Carpenter) and Gina Clifford (Production Coordinator). {Q}Details
