TOWN OF MANLIUS – A&E SNY, a medical and wellness spa in the Chimney’s Plaza on Bridge Street, would like to move to a new high-end facility in the town of Manlius.
The property where the project is proposed is located along Medical Center Drive, between Star View Estates and the Towne Center Retirement Center. The property is currently zoned restricted agriculture, which would not allow this type of project. Last week, owner Michael Papa and a representative from the engineering firm Napierala Associates presented an application for a zone change to commercial A to pave the way for the project.
The facility would include two separate buildings and would offer a variety of services including dietary services, physical therapy, fitness training, manicure and pedicure, and hair services including styling, laser hair removal and hair replacement.
“My competition is Mirbeau in Skaneateles, NY. If I don’t build a high-end med spa wellness center, then I won’t build it,” Papa said. “It’s going to be very well done. It’s going to be a nice looking building.”
The town board referred the application to the town planning board for its recommendation. The final decision on the zone change rests with the town board.
Papa said if he receives all of the necessary approvals, he hopes to break ground in the late summer or early fall.
