With a second consecutive undefeated regular season now part of the annals, the West Genesee boys swim team has one goal in mind — earn the Section III championship. The Wildcats go after that goal in the annual sectional meet Wednesday through Saturday at Nottingham High School’s Max Newman Pool. Before all that, though, WG first had to finish off its regular-season slate — and by beating Nottingham 101-77 Wednesday night, the Wildcats extended its win streak to 21 straight meets. For this event, Wildcats coach Bob Marks put together Pat O’Donnell, Carson Elias, Ben Seketa and Tyler Olson to compete in all three relay events. And they had some fun, setting a WG pool record in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:30.77 and roaring to a time of 1:40.39 in the 200 medley relay. To close out the meet, O’Donnell, Elias, Seketa and Olson swam the 400 freestyle relay in 3:18.76, the best sectional time of the season. Individually, Connor Agen got to shine, as he won the 100 butterfly (1:02.41), while Josh Byrne impressed on the diving board, earning 231.90 points. Brendan Marks added a victory in the 200 freestyle in 2:05.98.
