MARCELLUS– The nature-inspired art of students from five local school districts is being celebrated in an exhibit at Baltimore Woods Nature Center this month. Art students in grades kindergarten through twelve will have their work displayed in the art gallery of the Interpretive Center from May 1 until May 28. The public is invited to attend the show by pre-registering for a select Monday or Saturday through the website at baltimorewoods.org.
In addition, there will be a virtual gallery available on the website May 14 through Aug. 31. The nature center is located at 4007 Bishop Hill Road, Marcellus and there are no admission or parking fees.
Connecting children with the natural world and educating children to become good stewards of the earth is one of the primary goals of Baltimore Nature Center. The creation and appreciation of nature-inspired art is one of the many ways of making those fundamental connections.
“We always enjoy the wonderful variety of artistic expression in this colorful exhibit, and the opportunity to celebrate the youngsters who created it. We are excited to have artwork by students from Auburn, West Genesee, Skaneateles, Marcellus and Onondaga School Districts this year, and it is our hope that the public will take advantage of our on-line preregistration so they can enjoy the work in person,” says Gallery Coordinator and former art educator Karen Jean Smith. “The art educators from the participating school districts always take the extra time to make their students’ work available for this show, and we are especially appreciative of their efforts during this time when there have been increased challenges for the educators of our children.”
