CENTRAL NEW YORK – Now the Cazenovia and Chittenango girls golf teams each made their attempts to earn victories against a steady stream of Onondaga High School Legaue opponents.
The Lakers met up with Marcellus last Monday at Cazenovia Country Club, but could not keep the Mustangs from its third straight victory as it prevailed 227-245.
Natalie Dolan did finish second among individuals, though her nine-hole 57 was well back of the pace-setting 46 by Marcellus’ Bronte Stahl.
Sophie Clancy, shooting a 59, took fourth place, with Grace Probe tied for sixth thanks to her 62 and Emily Forrett finishing with a 67.
Chittenango took a 197-267 defeat to Christian Brothers Academy last Monday at Drumlins, where Delaney Dawkins and Courtney Peryer both shot 57 to pace the Bears.
But CBA swept the top three, led by Annie Kilmartin (43), Hanna Lang (46) and Aubrey Mills (51), while Abby Van Dee shot a 70 for Chittenango and Ava Hohl added a 76.
Then it was Cazenovia’s turn against CBA on Tuesday, with the Lakers shooting 214 to the Brothers’ 202 at the Links at Erie Village, but finishing ahead of Bishop Grimes, the host school, who had 244.
After some mid-week rains, action resumed on Thursday, with Cazenovia and Chittenango again taking defeats.
In Cazenovia’s case, it got quite close against Skaneateles in a 246-250 loss, where at the top Clancy’s 55 at Skaneateles Country Club beat every individual except Julia Marshall, who led those other Lakers with a 49.
As for the Bears, it fell 225-306 to Westhill. Brooke Cullen shot a 67 and Van Dee had a 71, each of them well back of the 48 posted by the Warriors’ Catherine Dadey.
