Kevin Hanlon, planned Pan-Mass Challenge rider, passes away

Kevin Hanlon of Manlius, who had planned to ride alongside more than 6,700 cyclists in the 40th Pan-Mass Challenge, passed away on July 12 after battling lung cancer.

Hanlon was determined to pedal 84 miles for the fundraiser, which benefits the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

Hanlon made his debut in the challenge during the summer of 2017, roughly a year after his cancer diagnosis, and returned to ride the following year.

Hanlon was the co-founder and owner of ComSource, a technology company established in Manlius in 1989.
