SYRACUSE – Competing one more time in 2023, indoor track teams from East Syracuse Minoa, Jamesville-DeWitt and Fayetteville-Manlius went up against one another at SRC Arena during last Saturday’s afternoon session of the George Constantino Memorial.
ESM’s boys earned 71.5 points, second only to Cazenovia’s 97 as F-M was fourth and J-D sixth. The Red Rams were second among girls team with 98.5 points behind Cicero-North Syracuse’s 120, with the Hornets in fifth place.
Nicki Militi went 1:45.21 for second place in the 600-meter run as Bishop Grimes had Ella Reilly fifth in 1:51.05. Meghana Reddy finished fifth in the 1,000-meter run as Grimes finished fourth in the 4×200 relay in 2:00.46.
In the 55-meter hurdles, McDuffie finished second in 7.81 seconds, with Moore third in 8.28 and Sullivan fourth in 8.58. The Spartans’ Hashim Abdi got to fourth place in the 55-meter dash.
As for J-D, it won the 4×400 relay. Shane Gargiulo, Adam Rigdon, Brayden Rivera and Will Westpfal roared to a time of 3:38.42, nearly six seconds ahead of the field as ESM finished sixth.
Brayden Rivera went 37.56 seconds, a close second to Watertown’s Camiren Collins (37.32), while Deacon Enright got fourth in the pole vault, topping 9 feet as F-M’s Jackson Brown was fifth.
F-M’s Nolan McGinn took the 3,200-meter run in 9:42.54, the only time under 10 minutes, with Will Ditre taking second in the 1,000 in 2:38.91 and Jackson Burton second in the 55 sprint in 6.82 seconds.
Vincent Hunt was third in the 600 in 1:27.38, ahead of J-D’s Hudson Groat (1:28.59) in fourth place. Hunt, Ditre, McGinn and Will Beecher ran to second in the 4×800 in 8:44.95, with the Hornets third in the 4×200 in 1:39.61.
J-D flourished in the girls field events, especially the shot put where Skylar Vaught won with 35’ ¾” as part of a top-three-sweep with Jillian Webber (33’5) second and Kenna Ridzi third with 33 feet.
Webber went from there to taking the weight throw with a top toss of 39’3”, one of just three throwers to go beyond 29 feet, where F-M’s Michelle Ifeonu finished fourth.
Victoria Payne had a second-place long jump of 16’1 ½”. Ellyana Deng, clearing 5’1”, claimed second place in the high jump and added a second-place triple jump of 34’2 ¾”, with Ridzi fourth in the pole vault by topping 8 feet as Rivera (7’6”) finished seventh.

F-M’s girls again got wins in distance events. Izzie Sullivan went 10:19.91 to take the 3,000-meter run, with Camille Ryan third in 10:45.42 as ESM’s Rachael Burt was fifth.
Maria Khalifeh beat the field in the 1,500-meter run in 4:56.08, with Ava Beecher fifth in 5:16.17, before Sullivan, Ryan, Claire McDonald and Jordan Giannetti won the 4×800 relay in 10:00.23. The Hornets were also fourth in the 4×400 relay, edging J-D in fifth place.
ESM’s Amber Hayes was second in the 300-meter dash in 45.09 seconds and gave the Spartans a third-place time of 7.72 in the 55 sprint, with Victoria Payne (7.83) in fourth place before she got third in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.00 to edge Hayes (9.01) in fourth place.
Earlier, in the morning session of the Constantino meet, Christian Brothers Academy had Ben Chiodi emerge victorious in the boys 3,200, his time of 10:28.26 well clear of the 10:37.45 from Baldwinsville’s Jacob Guelli. Marquan Saddler was eighth in the shot put with a heave of 39 feet.
