ONONDAGA COUNTY – Twice in a span of four days, the Baldwinsville wrestling team had matches against Auburn, and both easily went in the Bees’ favor.
Then the Bees went to the Syracuse Duals last Saturday and swept all five of its matches there, capped by a decisive battle with SCAC Metro division rival West Genesee and got past the Wildcats 36-27.
B’ville lost the first three bouts and fell behind 12-0 before Aaron Fredenburg, at 152 pounds, recorded a 31-second pin over Dylan Radcliffe as Max Naples (160 pounds) followed with a third-period fall over Francisco Cross.
Then the Bees seized control with three straight pins in the higher weight classes. At 189 pounds, Judson Ferris finished off Jacob Severson in 64 seconds, with Fred Pickard (215 pounds) taking 32 seconds to pin Omar Almaliti and Korben Haney (285 pounds) earning a 92-second fall against Derek Dishaw.
WG stayed in it by winning the next two bouts to cut it to 30-27, but Keagan Hayes, only needing any decision in the 126-pound finale, closed it out when he pinned Mason Doran late in the second period.
Having prevailed 60-15 over Auburn in the Jan. 15 Fallen Heroes Tournament at Canastota, B’ville met up with the Maroons again last Tuedsay night on Auburn’s mats and proved more stingy in the course of a 51-8 victory.
Collin Zeman earned a pin at 118 pounds, finishing off Charles Cesario in 90 seconds. Brandon Levin (145 pounds) had a 97-second pin over Elijah Stroman as Ferris, took 70 seconds to pin Hunter Williamson.
Parrish Morrison won a 5-2 decision over Gage DeBlois at 189 pounds as Hayes, Naples, Fredenburg, Haney and Aidan Cali (126 pounds) picked up forfeits.
