SYRACUSE – Through two sessions of indoor track and field at Saturday’s John Arcaro Memorial Invitational, a quartet of the area’s indoor track and field teams would find a fair amount of success.
West Genesee lit up the afternoon session, its girls team getting 93 points for second place behind Cazenovia (110 points) as the boys Wildcats finished third with 59.5 points behind Baldwinsville and East Syracuse Minoa.
WG’s girls had Peyton Long, Erin Fortune, Claire Griffin and Chloe Fietze get a victory in the 4×800 relay in 10:45.06.
Rachael Reynolds ran to second in the 55-meter hurdles in 10.27 seconds and was second in the triple jump with 27 feet 4 inches as Adrianna Gill finished fourth.
Zoe Maupin was second in the 1,500-meter run in 5:16.60, ahead of Long in fifth place. Griffin took fourth in the 600-meter run in 1:55.89.
Fietze was fourth in the 1,000-meter run in 3:24.52, with Karolina Lata sixth. Natalie Keiling took fifth in the 55-meter dash in 7.94 seconds, with Zoe Orr fifth in the 300-meter dash.
Karli Clark took fourth in the long jump as Alexis Rydelek was fourth in the shot put and weight throw. The Wildcats were second in the 4×400 relay in 4:41.80 and third in the 4×200 relay in 1:59.23.
To lead the WG boys, Peter McMahon produced a victory in the 1,000 in 2:41.76 to the 2:43.33 from Cazenovia’s Cassidy Gilmore, while Bryce Bort won the long jump, going 19’5 1/2”.
McMahon paired with Alex Puchta, Casey Comny and Aidan Walsh as the Wildcats completed a girls/boys 4×800 sweep in 8:50.04. WG had a time of 3:58.26 in the 4×400 relay for a runner-up finish to go with a third (1:41.47) in the 4×200.
Chris Moser nearly won the 300, his 37.73 seconds one-hundredth of a second behind B’ville’s Owen Weaver (37.72) as Bort was third in 38.23 seconds. Kevin Moser was third in the 600 in 1:32.74 as Kev Scott got fourth in the 55 sprint in 7.03 seconds.
Back in the morning session, Westhill finished third in the girls standings with 78 points, two behind runner-up Jamesville-DeWitt as Liverpool (108 points) was on top.
It included Ashley Bolesh twice winning events, sprinting to first place in the 300 in 42.72 seconds ahead of Kate Bendall’s 44.78, this after Bendall won the 55 hurdles in 9.87 seconds.
Also, Bolesh put up a winning triple jump of 33’8 3/4” as no one else topped 32 feet, and was third in the 55 sprint in 7.74 seconds.
Angie Mesa helped the Warriors take third in the 4×200 in 1:56.49 and third in the 4×400 in 4:36.54, with Westhill also getting third in the 4×800.
Mary Kate Rewakowski took third in the pole vault, clearing 8 feet, with Corine Allen fifth. Coleen Patrie claimed fourth place in both the shot put and weight throw.
The Westhill boys had a fourth-place finish that included a win in the 4×800, where the quartet of Brian Kenny, Brandon Mulholland, Brian Allen and Drew O’Reilly went 8:32.40 to edge Fayetteville-Manlius’ 8:34.70.
Muholland finished third in the 1,000 in 2:48.94, with Kenny fifth in 2:53.14 as the Warriors were third in the 4×400 in 4:14.71. Jon Gratien gained fifth place in the triple jump, with Owen Mulholland fifth in the 55 hurdles.
Skaneateles and Jordan-Elbridge were part of the morning session, too, with the boys Lakers seeing Alex Moro triumph in the pole vault by clearing 9’6”. Nolan Gryzlo was sixth in the 1,600 for Skaneateles as Jack Phillips took seventh place in the 600.
Kyla Palmer won the 600 for the Skaneateles girls in 1:40.03. J-E’s girls got a victory in the high jump when Tatianna Parkolap cleared 5 feet as Vassianna Klock took second in the 3,000-meter run in 10:38.84.
