ITHACA – Cicero-North Syracuse diver Kaitlyn Carroll brought home a medal from the Nov..19 New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships held at Ithaca College.
Of the 40 divers in the original field, 24 would advance to the semifinals, and despite some early struggles Carroll was able to move ahead.
Then, in both the semifinals and finals, Carroll climbed the leaderboard. When it ended, Carroll had picked up 430.70 points, which was good for 18th place.
Sophomore Anna Flanders, from Albany High School, won the state championship with 509.90 points, edging Manhasset’s Victoria Wanf (507.70) by exactly two points.
