CENTRAL NEW YORK – Now the season for the Cazenovia boys golf team culminates with Tuesday’s appearance in the Section III small-school fall tournament which took place at Beaver Meadows.
Before that, though, the Lakers would travel last Friday to Millstone Golf Course and, improving to 9-2 on the season, earned a 222-267 victory over the Jordan-Elbridge Eagles.
Jack Byrnes shot a 41 for nine holes, tying J-E’s Ben Weller for low individual. And though Colin Jewsbury had a 42 for the Eagles, none of his teammates improved on 59.
Meanwhile, Liam Colligan finished third with a 43, just ahead of Chris Kelly and Will Guider, who both posted 45. Ben Orback added a 48.
This happened as Chittenango challenged undefeated Christian Brothers Academy at Woodcrest and got a brilliant round from Tyrus Kelly, who shot a 34 to lead all individuals.
Despite this, along with a 40 from Alex Moesch, the Bears lost, 203-219, to the Brothers, who had six golfers shoot 44 or lower, led by Jack Gregory’s 38. Tanner Smith had a 44 and Ryan Moesch added a 49.
This followed a 204-223 defeat to Homer the day before where Kelly and Alex Moesch, both shooting 38, matched the Trojans’ Mitch Riter, while Smith had a 44. Ryan Moesch picked up a 48.
