ONONDAGA COUNTY – In the years before COVID-19 shortened the 2020 season, the Baldwinsville boys golf team has worked through their schedule knowing the most important tournament of the fall took place in its backyard.
And when Section III tournament play resumed this fall, the Bees would, again, find itself in home territory, battling for Section III Class AA honors next Wednesday at Radisson Greens.
Prior to that, though, was a series of matches for B’ville that included a Sept. 20 battle with Fayetteville-Manlius Green where it knocked off the Hornets 195-208.
Aidan Farmer’s nine-hole total of 35 beat the 38 from Trey Ordway. Then Owen Frechette, Tom Hastings and Nate MacGregor each posted 39 ahead to match F-M Green’s Jack Sommers and clinch the team win.
Back home at Timber Banks last Monday to face West Genesee Gold, B’ville got a blistering round from MacGregor to lead his side past the Wildcats 193-215.
MacGregor got a two-under-par 34, three ahead of Farmer and Austin McClintic, both of whom shot 37. Ordway had a 40, with Hastings and Aiden Motala both posting 45 as Max Lauricella and Cameron Hotaver led WG Gold with twin 41s.
Going to Foxfire on Thursday to face Liverpool, the Bees again had the five lowest individual rounds while earning a 189-211 victory over the Warriors.
Farmer, in particular, stood out, shooting a two-under-par 34. Motala rose to second place with a 38, with MacGregor, Hastings and McClintic all shooting 39 to equal Liverpool’s low round by Owen Michaud.
Aside from the sectional tournament, B’ville also has matches against Cicero-North Syracuse Green and Fayetteville-Manlius White early in next week.
