The latest alignment for Section III Class B indoor track and field brought Skaneateles, Jordan-Elbridge and Marcellus together in the B-2 division, and they battled each other Saturday for championship honors at SRC Arena.
With 90 points, the girls Lakers finished second as Clinton (134 points) took the top spot. Skaneateles also had its boys team finish third behind Cazenovia and Clinton, earning 62 points as J-E was fourth with 59 points.
Emme Conan took charge in the girls sprints for Skaneateles, beating the field in the 55-meter dash in 7.47 seconds to the 7.54 from Altmar-Parish-Williamstown’s Isabella Scott (7.54).
Moving to the 300-meter dash, Conan’s time of 43.62 seconds beat Cazenovia’s Savannah Johnson (44.66) by more than a second. To cap it off, Emme Conan, Grace Conan, Tess Peterson and Eva Vitsaxaki won the 4×200 relay in 1:51.37 to Cazenovia’s 1:52.56.
In the triple jump, Peterson prevailed by going 34’1 1/4″, nearly two feet ahead of Clinton’s Savarrah Sojda (32’5 1/4″). Peterson cleared 4’8″ to finish second in the high jump, with Vitsaxaki third in the long jump, going 14’6 1/2″.
Reagan Evans won for Skaneateles in the weight throw, her top attempt of 36 feet 1/2 inch ahead of the 34’7″ from South Jefferson’s Hannah Mills.
Sarah Tallerico finished third in the 1,000-meter run in 3:12.16 and third in the 1,500-meter run in 5:10.08, with Lillian Coleman fourth in the 600-meter run in 1:47.98. Sharla Dart had a fifth-place shot put toss of 30’2 3/4″.
Skaneateles had its boys team dominate the distance races, starting with Joe Norris going 2:44.74 to prevail in the 1,000 as Tony DiRubbo finished sixth in 2:58.64.
Matt Persampieri won the 1,600-meter run, going 4:48.34, with Norris fourth in 4:57.69 and Will Girzadas seventh. Persampieri also got third place in the 3,200-meter run as Caleb Bender finished second in 9:37.97, just behind the 9:34.22 from Adirondack’s Tyler Fauvelle.
Ben Euto threw the shot put 38’6 1/2″, second by one inch to Cazenovia’s Gordan Wester (38’7 1/2″). Emil Sander was fifth in the 55 sprint in 6.98 seconds, adding a fifth in the long jump (18’7 1/2″) as Payton Sweet finished sixth in the weight throw.
J-E had some success, too, seeing Derek Quigley, Lee Jewell, Sean Dristle and Kenny Williams record a time of 8:44.79 in the 4×800 relay as Skaneateles had Bender, Persampieri, Norris and DiRubbo finish second in 8:50.41.
Quigley, WIlliams, Michael Bennick and Zach Barber went 3:49.88 to finish second in the 4×400 relay, this before Williams was second in the 600 in 1:28.05, one second behind the 1:27.05 from Cazenovia’s Andrew Kent, and Barber had a second-place long jump of 19’8″.
Colin Jewsbury earned fourth place in the 1,600-meter run in 4:54.31. Sean Dristle was fourth in the 3,200 in 10:14.77, with Lee Jewell in fifth place as Tyler Spencer got sixth in the shot put
The girls Eagles had a win in the 4×800, with Vassianna Klock, Coral Uhle, Olivia Bennett and Lauren Fichter going 10:29.46 to beat out a field that included Skaneateles taking third in 10:51.60.
Vassianna Klock earn second place in the 600 in 1:42.92 behind Clinton’s Madison Luke (1:39.80), while Coral Uhle took fourth in the 1,000 in 3:15.26 and Kyra White was fifth in the 55 hurdles and Tatianna Parkolap fifth in the high jump.
As for the Marcellus girls, it got 41 points and finished fifth in B-2. This included a third-place showing in the 4×200 as Emma Roseboom, Delaney Manahan, Brielle McShane and Kaitlyn Worden posted a time of 1:58.81.
Sophia Shaw, clearing 4’8″, gained third place in the high jump, with Anella Bolster earning third place in the triple jump by going 31’8 3/4″, just ahead of teammate Lauren Meyers (31’6″) in fourth place.
Also, Bolster finished third in the 3,000-meter run in 11:27.58, with Manahan fourth in the 300 in 45.24 seconds, McShane fifth in the 600 and Meyers sixth in the 55 hurdles. The Mustangs were fourth in the 4×400 in 4:33.72 and fifth in the 4×800, with Ellie Mahoney seventh in the shot put.
arcellus had 25 points to tie for sixth place in the boys B-2 meet, seeing Kevin Donath, Mason Grieb, Ryan White and Jonah Kwasnowski get second place in the 4×200 in 1:40.79, trailing only Cazenovia’s winning 1:39.46 as Skaneateles (1:42.56) was fifth.
The Mustangs were fourth in the 4×400 in 3:53.99 and fifth in the 4×800 as Peter McCaffrey went 39’4″ in the triple jump to finish fourth, augmenting his sixth-place finish in the long jump. Donath finished fifth in the 600 and Kwasnowski fifth in the 55 hurdles. White finished sixth in the 300.
