Clare Burke and Kali Sacco’s pair of individual race victories led the Baldwinsville girls swim team’s efforts in Tuesday’s road meet against the Oswego Buccaneers.
Burke, in the 200-yard freestyle, prevailed in two minutes, 10.72 seconds, edging Oswego’s Ciarrah Tynan (2:10.87) by 0.15 seconds. The 100 butterfly wasn’t as close, Burke winning in 1:07.69 to the 1:10.87 from the Bucs’ Maya Upcraft.
Sacco swam the 200 individual medley in 2:25 flat to pull away from Mallory Upcraft (2:29.66), and then was victorious in the 100 breaststroke, going 1:18.18 to the 1:22.68 from the Bucs’ Grace Wing.
Oswego still won the meet, 98-78, over B’ville, overcoming those individual titles along with the 200 medley relay where Burke and Sacco, along with Ashley Konz, and Makenna Williams, helped the Bees prevail in 2:06.30.
Konz continued to shine in the 100 backstroke, winning in 1:04.20, also getting second place in the 50 freestyle in 27.34 seconds as Kate Cornell was third in the 100 freestyle. Konz, Sacco, Burke and Madeline Sauro were second in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:57.56.
Having not swam at home yet this season, B’ville finally does so next Tuesday when it faced Skaneateles, two days before a trip to West Genesee.
