Weather continued to cooperate, for the most part, leaving the area’s high school boys golf teams plenty of opportunities to compete and build upon their strong starts.
And Fayetteville-Manlius’s Green side remains the best in the SCAC Metro division, which it reinforced last Tuesday at Woodcrest with another superb team effort in a 186-208 victory over Liverpool.
Mike Millimaci shot his low round of the season, a 35 for nine holes. Velton Perry and Andrew Heyman were close behind, each posting 37, while Seth Bailey had a 38 and Matt LaCombe added a 39, the same total as the Warriors’ Spencer Baum and Dylan Husted.
Then F-M handled Cicero-North Syracuse’s Green team on Thursday 186-210 at Woodcrest. Perry and Heyman both shot 36, edging Bailey, who had a 37, while Enzo Abruzzese shot 38. LaCombe and Adam Bush had matching totals of 39. Millimaci and John Sommers posted rounds of 40.
Jamesville-DeWitt went head-to-head with East Syracuse Minoa last Tuesday at Drumlins, and the Red Rams scored 196 to the 219 for ESM Blue and 248 for ESM Orange to remain atop the SCAC Empire division.
Peter Hatton tore his way to a 33 for J-D, with Punn Chittaratlert adding a 38. Jules Galletta managed a 40, just ahead of the 42 from Tyler Brang, the 43 from Cooper Werner and 44 from Tanner Burns.
On ESM’s side, David Griffith led Blue by shooting 42, one better than Alex Leo, with Zach Johnson and Joe Pacheco each posting 44. Owen White added a 50 as Spencer Bryant had a 45 for ESM Orange and Colin Decker contributed a 48.
J-D went from there to an impressive 184-230 victory over Fulton at Battle Island a day later. Hatton continued to roll, shooting a four-under-par 32 as Chitttaratlert had a 35. Burns improved to a 37, with Brang and Glowaki each posting rounds of 40.
Playing Thursday against Oswego, ESM Blue shot 240 to the Buccaneers’ 209, with ESM Orange shooting 270. Pacheco and Dan Sitnik each shot 41 to lead the Spartans, with Johnson adding a 49. Ryan Bartlett’s 36 paced Oswego.
Christian Brothers Academy remained undefeated as, taking on Homer last Monday at Drumlins, it strung together five solid rounds and defeated the Trojans 199-228.
Joe Nicholson’s 37 led all individuals, one better than the 38 from Dan Angelo. Homer’s Mitch Rider had a 39, but no other Trojan was lower than 45 as Jack MacLachlan got a 40 for the Brothers, with Peter Scuderi and Mike Sanatro each shooting 42.
Another big win came a day later, CBA romping past Phoenix 226-314 at Beaver Meadows. Nicholson’s 38 set the pace as Harry McClain gained a 43, with Jack Gregory shooting 46 and Emmitt Kilmartin contributing a 47.
Two of the league’s top teams met at Drumlins on Wednesday afternoon when CBA faced Skaneateles, and again the Brothers prevailed, getting past the Lakers 206-223.
Nicholson’s 39 was one behind Skaneateles’ Tynan Jones, while MacLachlan’s 40 matched the Lakers’ Shawn Luce. Angelo’s 41 was one better than Skaneateles’ Tyson DiRubbo and no other Laker broke 50 as Ryan McLaughlin put up a 42 and Ryan Wendt got a 44.
F-M’s White team lost, 188-212, to Baldwinsville last Monday at Timber Banks, though Andrew Ahn shot a 38, just two behind the Bees’ Tanner Glavin. Alex Duggleby got a 41, while Mark Hanlon shot 43, Jason Carter got a 45 and Tobey Schulman’s 46 beat out a 49 shot by Jack Anthshel.
