Four of the area’s high school track and field teams had OHSL Liberty division matches last week, with Skaneateles and Solvay able to earn sweeps.
Skaneateles hosted Altmar-Parish-Williamstown last Tuesday afternoon, and the Lakers prevailed 97-42 on the girls side as Emme Conan, Graeson Landsberg and Lyda Buck each won twice.
Conan was first in the 100 (13.2 seconds) and 200 (27.6 seconds) meter sprints, with Landsberg going 1:05.5 in the 400-meter dash before a top triple jump of 30 feet 8 inches. Buck cleared 4’6” in the high jump and 7 feet in the pole vault.
Sophia Casler went 14’6” in the long jump, Sharia Dart threw the shot put 29’7 ¼” and Edan Howard threw the discus 81’9”. Liliana Arias won the 3,000-meter run in 13:07.0 and the Lakers won the 4×100 (54.2 seconds), 4×400 (4:54.9) and 4×800 (11:41.6) relays.
The Skaneateles boys handled APW 102.5-37.5 as Nicola Kunz won three events, clearing 11 feet in the pole vault and 5’8” in the high jump while also edging Nick Paciorek, 17.9 seconds to 18.0, in the 110 hurdles.
Joe Norris ran the 800 in 2:10 flat and the mile in 4:54.0, while Ben Euto threw the shot put 33’6” and the discus 76’4”. Caleb Bender was first in the 3,200-meter run as Paciorek tore to a time of 1:01.2 in the 400 hurdles.
A day later, it was Solvay prevailing at Phoenix 85-56 on the girls side and seeing the boys Bearcats beat the Firebirds 81.5-59.5,
Leading the Solvay girls, Kyra Crossett finished first in the 100 hurdles in 18.1 seconds and ran the 400 hurdles in 1:17 flat to edge the Firebirds’ Emma Allers (1:17.1).
Crossett also cleared 4’10” to win the high jump as Brielle Bagozzi topped 8 feet in the pole vault. Sabrina Garnett and Shareese Pierce both threw the shot put 26’3” as Sophia Guadagnolo won the discus with 77’3”.
Carly Devereaux not only won the 1,500 in 5:46.9, she helped the Bearcats finish first in the 4×800 relay in 11:39.2 as Solvay also won the 4×100 (53.8 seconds) and 4×400 (4:53.9) relays, Crossett running a leg in the latter event.
In the boys meet, Solvay had Justice Shirley go 1:05.6 in the 400 hurdles and clear 5’6” in the high jump. Justin Scott prevailed in the 100 in 11.5 seconds and the 200 in 24.4 seconds.
Max Melynk went 12:02 to beat the field in the 3,200 and added a winning triple jump of 31’8”. Danil Gromov won the long jump, going 17’8”, with Luke Draper claiming the 800. Allen Cawthon (400 sprint) and Luke Dwyer (mile) also won races as the Bearcats claimed the 4×100 in 46.6 seconds and the 4×800 in 10:03.0.
Marcellus lost both sides of last Wednesday’s meet with Christian Brothers Academy, even though the boys Mustangs had plenty of success in the field events during an 82-55 defeat to the Brothers.
Dan Balman threw the discus 107’8” and Kyle Brown 101’3”, with Brown taking the shot put with 37’4 ½” as Jonah Kwasknowski cleared 5’2” in the high jump and Peter McCaffrey went 35’3” in the triple jump.
On the track, Mason Grieb and Ryan McCormick both went 18.2 seconds in the 110 hurdles, with Grieb able to prevail in the 400 hurdles in 1:02.3.
In the girls meet, Marcellus fell 90-51 to CBA, though Delaney Manahan won all three sprints, taking the 100 (13.6 seconds), 200 (28.0 seconds) and 400 (1:01.9). Sophia Shaw cleared 4’8” to win the high jump.
