In the second SCAC Empire division girls golf tournament of the spring last Monday afternoon, Jamesville-DeWitt’s girls were victorious with 199 to Auburn’s 204.
Lena Jones led the Red Rams with a 42, the top individual score by five strokes, while Tracey Edson tied for third with a 50. Kelli Palumbo, with a 53, was just ahead of Eden Shiomos (54) and Abby Neuman (55).
East Syracuse Minoa Blue was fourth with 215 as Giavanna Vito matched Edson’s 50 to share third place. Carey Sloan had a 54, beating out Hannah Johnson (55), Bailey Murphy (56) and Hailey Saunders (58), while ESM Orange’s Emily Williams had a 56 of her own, ahead of Mackenzie Roberts (57) and Amber Cardarelli (58).
ESM Blue lost 200-230 to Cicero-North Syracuse Blue last Tuesday as ESM Orange fell 242-265 to C-NS Green, with Vito’s 56 the low round for both Spartans sides.
Christian Brothers Academy remained in the lead in the Onondaga High School League, going to Skaneateles last Monday and earning a 218-248 victory over the Lakers in a key early-season test.
Both sides were undefeated going into the match, but at Skaneateles Country Club Elizabeth Lucas posted the low round of 52 and Isabella Meade finished with a 53, just ahead of the Lakers’ Julia Marshall (54). Further depth came from Aubrey Mills, who shot 56, and Annie Kilmartin, who shot 57.
Then CBA handled Bishop Grimes 218-267 on Tuesday at Drumlins, with Lucas shooting a 49 and Kilmartin posting a 53. Brina Deppoliti shot the low total of 56 for the Cobras.
Grimes turned around to beat Cazenovia 251-255 on Thursday, with Deppoliti again leading her side with a 49, as CBA handled Chittenango 216-293, Kilmartin’s 46 10 shots ahead of the 56s from Paige Snyder and Maddy Formikell.
CBA met Cazenovia on Friday, and the Brothers prevailed 215-252, for though the Lakers’ Sophie Clancy led all individuals with a 51 at Cazenovia Country Club, Lucas had a 52, with Meade getting a 53, Kilmartin a 54 and Mills a 56.
As for Grimes, it challenged J-D and Chittenango on Friday, the Cobras shooting 293 to the Bears’ 289, and well behind the Red Rams, who won with 210.
Jones again was well ahead of the attack, finishing with a 42. Madeline Ferris had a 54, with Palumbo adding a 56 and Shiomos earning a 58. Deppoliti and Mara Gutchess both shot 72 for Grimes.
