Having already defeated both of its neighbors, the Fayetteville-Manlius girls swim team rested last week, with its season resuming on Wednesday night against Auburn.
Meanwhile, Christian Brothers Academy and Jamesville-DeWitt both would take on Cicero-North Syracuse during the week, with the Brothers going first against the Northstars last Tuesday at Le Moyne College, which both use as a home venue.
CBA lost, 98-88, to C-NS, who didn’t clinch the meet until it swam the 400-yard freestyle relay in three minutes, 59.82 seconds to beat the Brothers’ Darien Tompkins, Katelyn Wendt, Emily Ball and Ally Howard, who posted 4:03.34.
Much earlier, CBA had won the opening 200 medley relay as Howard, joined by Lauren Kelly, Kaitlyn Bushnell and Alyssa Nicita, pulled away to win in 2:00.82.
Bushnell went on to a sprint sweep, going 26.27 seconds to claim the 50 freestyle as, in the 100 freestyle, she posted 58.20 seconds to hold off C-NS’s Bryn Myers (58.96) for the top spot.
Tompkins also won twice, holding off Devinney, 2:05.74 to 2:07.60, in the 200 freestyle and then, in the 500 freestyle, pulling away for first place in 5:42.84.
Kelly, who finished second in the 200 individual medley, was first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.27, with Howard edging C-NS’s Alyson McRobbie, 1:08.13 to 1:08.58, in the 100 backstroke, but finishing second in the 100 butterfly. Tompkins, Kelly, Bushnell and Wendt roared to a time of 1:45.04 in the 200 freestyle relay.
When J-D took its turn against C-NS on Friday night, the result was different, with the Red Rams accumulating enough of a margin early in the meet to eventually beat the Northstars 95-89.
Sawyer Parker and Emma Galletta each won two races, with Parker going 2:05.87 to take the 200 freestyle before she claimed the 100 freestyle in 58.26 seconds.
As for Galletta, she would win the 50 freestyle in 26.36 seconds and cruise to first place in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.44, also helping Parker, Amelia Hesler and Julia Antoine win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:47.19.
Hesler needed 5:36.36 to prevail in the 500 freestyle, having already helped Galletta, Emily Ninestein and Gwen Lister take the 200 medley relay in 1:59.39.
Lister got first place in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.49 as Ninestein was second in the 100 backstroke in 1:08.33, just behind Devinney (1:07.86), while in the 200 IM Lister went 2:19.24 and Brooke Fedi (2:18.33) won for C-NS.
