Haunted Hallways makes Halloween revival
When Haunted Hallways was canceled last year, many in the community said they missed what had become a community tradition. Now it is back, with a twist.
For generations, the Skaneateles Rotary Club held a costume judging contest and served cider and donuts. And for the past almost decade, the High School Interact Club enhanced the event by transforming hallways at State Street School into Haunted Hallways. Up to 800 children and their parents attended during busy years.
This year the combined event is back, but with a major twist: the entire spooky evening has been moved to the high school.
Young Trick-or-Treaters and their parents should enter the high school/middle school at the Commons on East Street. There, they will be met with Rotarians who will serve the traditional cider and donuts. (No costume judging this year). Then they will be led on an entertaining and scary journey that will include the Courtyard, the lower Commons and the science wing.
The Interact Club and the Rotary Club are grateful to State Street School and its staff for the use of that school over so many years. Karen Price, Interact Club advisor, said club members decided the high school could add new elements of excitement. In addition, it will be easier for students and staff who will no longer have to transport truckloads of decorations to State Street School for the event.
Having the event in the high school is helping create more school wide enthusiasm, said Interact Club President Joe Benedict.
