UPDATE: Sheriff’s office releases name of driver involved in boating accident

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the boating accident that occurred earlier this month on Skaneateles Lake.
Sheriff’s Detectives investigating the boating accident that occurred on July 6th, say 33 year old Jamie Wheeler of Homer NY, was operating the 17 foot Bayliner boat when the boat’s propeller struck her husband, Christopher Driscoll (32) and her step-daughter Kaelynne Driscoll (8). The two had been riding on an inner tube that was being towed by Wheeler when the inner tube struck a wake, throwing Christopher and Kaelynne into the water. As Wheeler circled back around the boats propeller struck the two, causing serious injuries.
A nearby boater identified as Eric Marcinkowski (40) of Syracuse and David Goetzmann (28) of Skaneateles were alerted to the accident and quickly responded to assist the two victims by rescuing them from the water and by bringing them to the State Boat Launch where they were met by emergency personnel who transported them to Upstate University Hospital. Since the accident Kaelynne has undergone several surgeries and continues to be hospitalized while her father was released on July 9th.
Sheriff’s Detectives say Wheeler and Driscoll’s two year old son was also on the boat at the time of the incident as well Driscoll’s brother Andrew (24) and his girlfriend Chelsea Greene (21) both of Pembroke Pines Florida.
