The fourth annual Festival in the Park will return to Lewis Park in Minoa at noon Saturday, Sept. 24, and will include a day full of live music, crafts, food, games and entertainment.
“It’s a nice, fun festival for all ages,” said Mayor Bill Brazill, who has helped put together each festival since its inception four years ago. “We have this beautiful park [Lewis Park] and it wasn’t being used as often as we would have liked. So with the help of my brother, J Brazill, and Greg Rinaldi, owner of Superior Seal who offered to sponsor the fireworks, we put together a day for the community to enjoy.”
J Brazill is a member of the band i am Fool, and each year works to get a list of local bands to play for free to create a day of live music. The lineup for this year includes: Soul Mine from noon to 1 p.m.; Mattydale Music Collective from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m.; Count Blastua from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.; Wagner 3000 from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.; Blake from 5 to 6 p.m.; i am Fool from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.; and Pale Green Stars from 7:30 to 8:30.
The event will also include local vendors and crafters, raffles, a classic car show, food and a kid’s zone. The day ends at 8:30 p.m. with a fireworks display.
Before the festival at 10 a.m. is the 8th annual Teal Ribbon Run/Walk, which benefits Hopes for Heather, an ovarian cancer research and awareness non-profit. To learn more about the run, go to tealribbonrun.org.
Sponsor of the fireworks is Superior Seal and Paving, and other sponsors include Parkway Liquors and Trappers II.
Lewis Park is located at the corner Main Street and Hulbert Street in Minoa. For more information, go to minoafestival.com or call the village office at 656-3100.
