In the race for two open seats in the New York State Supreme Court Fifth Judicial District, Republican incumbent Deborah Karalunas and Democratic candidate Ted Limpert prevailed. Limpert received 98,205 votes (28.78 percent) and Karalunas received 90,495 votes (26.52 percent).
“I couldn’t stand the thought of not being in the court come January 1,” said Karalunas. “There’s so many people that have helped me get to this point and I’m thankful.”
Rounding out the ballot were Republican Gregory Gilbert with 76,032 votes, Democrat Scott DelConte with 69,278 votes and Working Families candidate Andrew Falk with 7,038 votes. There were 216 write-in votes.
