Meet and greet the authors
1 p.m. Saturday, Oct 22
Are you a fan of mystery books? Do you love to cozy up with a romance novel on a cold winter night? Are you a kid at heart who still loves children’s and young adult books? Then we have just the program for you!
Spend a cool fall afternoon with local authors. Listen to a brief discussion on how/why they began writing (with an audience Q&A session), followed by an informal Meet and Greet. Get to know the authors better in one-on-one chats, buy a book or two (get them signed — they make great holiday gifts) and enjoy refreshments.
We have seven authors joining us, some who already have books in our library (perhaps you have read one…):
- Diane Culver
- Regina Edwards Drumm
- Nicki Greenwood
- Dawn Ireland
- Carl F. Kristeller
- Carol Pouliot
- Ellen Yeomans
Plan on joining us for what we hope will become an annual fall event. We look forward to seeing you there.
Chess for all ages
6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25
Calling chess players of all ages and abilities! We’re inviting everyone to play. Chess is a wonderful game for everyone. Experience, backed up by many formal studies, has shown the mental and social benefits for those who play. So come to the library and give your brain a good workout!
On Oct. 25, we will have a teaching session, led by Anton Ninno of Syracuse Chess, Inc. Mr. Ninno has led many of these session at libraries around Onondaga County. He will introduce those who are new to the game and give pointers to those who have experience. Registration is required.
