LIVERPOOL — Members of the Bonsai Club of Central New York will bring beautiful examples of their trees to the Liverpool Public Library for the community to admire from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, in the Carman Community Room.
Bonsai Club representative Dean Kolts said they’re glad to return to the Carman Room after turning 2020 into an online event.
“We look forward to being back this year because bonsai, like music and art, can be more fully appreciated in person as opposed to virtually,” Kolts said.
LPL community engagement coordinator Maggie Foster said she’s excited to experience her first Bonsai Show in person.
“I get to see the real trees instead of photos!” Foster said. “And to have in-person events is so much more engaging.”
Trees will be set up on tables throughout the Carman Community Room. Bonsai Club members will give tips about growing the trees as they show off their own work.
“Visitors will have the opportunity to ask questions, get club information and purchase starter plants,” Kolts said. “This year we’ll be featuring more ‘in progress’ trees to show the transformation and techniques used to create a bonsai.”
Masks are required for all inside the LPL regardless of vaccination status. The library’s COVID procedures can be found at lpl.org/explore/visit-lpl/covid-procedures/.
