Frederick John Kirschenheiter II, 55, of Liverpool, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on April 29, 2020, after a brief illness. Fred was a 1983 graduate of Chittenango High School. In 1987 he graduated from Union College with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. During his time there, he was a proud member of Alpha Delta Phi. He was employed by Blasland, Bouck and Lee, which later merged with Arcadis, for over 30 years, eventually achieving the status of senior vice president. He was most recently employed by Anchor QEA. Fred was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the NYS Society of Professional Engineers and was nationally recognized as an expert in his field.
Fred loved his work as an engineer and somehow had an answer to everything. Anyone who knew him will attest that he was a genuinely kind, selfless and generous man. He loved taking care of his home, his family and anyone who needed help. Fred enjoyed music and was a drummer throughout high school and during adulthood (“Bodies In Motion,” “Net Weight,” “Global Riff” and “Moonpies.”) He was also an avid sports fan who loved the New York Giants, New York Yankees and SU sports. Fred will be remembered by his dance moves, his enthusiastic singing voice, his ability to make anyone laugh and his care and dedication to his family and friends unconditionally.
Fred was predeceased by his father, Frederick J. Kirschenheiter in1980; his step-father, Donald H. Barrett and his step-brother, Michael; his grandparents, Leo J. Shinnock and Helen Morley; his grandparents, Frederick P. Kirschenheiter and Helen Robelen Shepard; and his mother-in-law, Frances Hope.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Katrina (Hope); his daughter, Sarah Kirschenheiter and son, Taylor Kirschenheiter; his stepdaughter, Brooke Mapother and grandchildren, Gaberiel and Emma; his mother, Sue Ellen Kirschenheiter; his sister, Pamela Gottheld (Scott); his step-sister Deborah Panebianco; his uncle, John Kirschenheiter (Cathy); his aunt, Arlene Knapp (Bob); his uncle, Jack Shinnock; and aunt, Maureen Gibbons (Bob); his brothers- in-law, Charles Hope (Carol), Michael Hope (Marge), Kevin Hope (Cindy) and Richard Hope (Linda); his father-in-law, Eugene Hope; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, friends and his furry best friend, Millie.
Funeral services were held at Thomas J. Pirro Jr. Funeral Home on Monday, May 11, 2020, with immediate family only.
