Margaret Reid Brewster, age 88, formerly of Skaneateles, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at The Chelsea in Jenkintown, Pa.
Marge was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and graduated from Stuyvesant Evening High School in New York City. She attended New York State Teacher’s Colleges, in New Paltz, Potsdam and Oswego and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 1969. Marge was a social worker with the Onondaga County Department of Social Services for 18 years. Marge and her late husband Richard (Dick) moved to Skaneateles in 1956 and lived there for over 50 years.
Marge was pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years Richard Brewster, her twin sister Catherine Harrison, her brother Edward Reid and her daughter-in-law Laura Doyle Brewster. She is survived by her six children Dr. Jeffrey Brewster, Dr. Jessica Brewster (Jacquelyn Belinsky), Kathleen Brewster (Fergus Oxley), Ann McCune (Matthew), Heather Marino (Glen), and John Brewster (Diana), 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two sisters Anne Reid and Patricia Roberts.
Marge had an incredible love of life and a great sense of humor. She loved to tell stories, write poetry and stand up for what she believed in. She loved her family dearly and will be forever missed.
Marge will be laid to rest with her husband Richard at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC.
