The town of Fenner will have a large slate of candidates listed on the Nov. 3 ballot, with six candidates from four different political parties running for two seats on the town board, as well as uncontested elections for the positions of supervisor, clerk, highway superintendent and tax collector.
The Democrat Party in Fenner held its candidate caucus on Monday, Sept. 14, during which members chose Judy Cary and Tracy Carman to be their candidates for town board. These selectees join candidates from the Republican, Reform and Fenner Neighbors parties previously chosen by the petition process for the four-year positions.
On the Republican and Reform sides, incumbent Councilor William Wester and newcomer Adam Pushlar are seeking the two town board seats, while Carl Snow and Philip G. Rose are running on the Fenner Neighbors Party line.
Current Councilor Richard “R.E.” Sears (Republican) chose not to run for reelection.
This is the second outing for Snow and Rose and the Fenner Neighbors Party, after losing a third-party challenge during the 2013 town elections.
Uncontested incumbents running for office in Fenner include Dave Jones (Republican and Reform parties) for the two-year supervisor position, Pala Douglas (Democrat) for the two-year clerk position and Sharon Larkin (Republican and Reform parties) for the two-year tax collector position.
Also running uncontested is Dan Smith (Republican and Reform parties) for the two-year highway superintendent position. Smith is seeking to succeed 17-year incumbent highway superintendent Frank Hyatt, who announced in June he would retire at the end of his current term.
Profiles of the candidates will be published in a future issue of the Cazenovia Republican.
