Lysander Town Councilor Roman Diamond has been charged with harassment in the second degree in connection with a physical domestic incident that occurred May 5.
The Baldwinsville Police Department served Diamond with a criminal summons Aug. 27. Diamond, 26, is scheduled to appear in Village of Baldwinsville Court on Sept. 11.
According to Baldwinsville Police Chief Michael Lefancheck, the incident occurred May 5 outside Diamond’s home at 6 Curtis Ave. The victim recently contacted BPD, who took her statement and interviewed witnesses.
“We were contacted recently by the victim in this incident who indicated that back on May 5 there had been an incident between [her] and Roman,” Lefancheck told the Messenger. “The allegation is that he had put his hand on the victim and restrained the victim outside the home.”
Diamond was first elected to the Lysander Town Board in 2013 at age 21, making him the youngest town councilor in Lysander history. Previously, he was elected to the Baldwinsville Central School District Board of Education at the age of 18.
The Messenger contacted Diamond by phone for comment.
“I am going to deny all allegations and out of respect for my family I’m not going to comment any further,” he said.
