On Nov. 18, New York State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative throughout Madison County. The initiative targeted the sale of alcohol to minors and utilized a team of state police members.
Five businesses in Cazenovia were found to be in compliance, as were numerous other businesses throughout the county. Two businesses in Oneida and one in Bridgeport were not in compliance.
The establishments checked and found to be in compliance in Cazenovia were:
•Kwik Fill – 122 Albany St.
•Xtra Mart – 135 Albany St.
•Rite Aid – 93 Nelson St.
•MacKinnon Liquors – 73 Nelson St.
•Tops Market – 85 Nelson St.
In neighboring Chittenango, the following established were found to be in compliance:
•SavOn – 603 E Genesee St.
•Kinney Drugs – 540 Genesee St.
•A&E Liquor – 239 Genesee St.
•Byrne Dairy – 298 Genesee St.
•Rite Aid – 1365 W Genesee St.
•Nice-N-Easy – 1305 St Rte 5.
•Tops Market – 800 W Genesee St.
The establishments checked and determined to be not in compliance were Glenwood Liquor Mart and Central Distributing Co., both in Oneida, and Bridgeport Liquors in Bridgeport. Employees at all three businesses were arrested for unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage to a minor.
