The Greater Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the launch of “Bee Local,” a public awareness campaign created to feature, promote and support local businesses, groups and activities.
From 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, the GBCC will host a Bee Local kick-off after-hours event at Dani’s Dessert & Wine Bar, 56 Oswego St., open to all area businesses. Attendees will enjoy free appetizers and Dani’s drink special: $5 Bee Local Red Sangria. The event is aimed at recruiting new GBCC members and invigorating current GBCC members to adopt this exciting new initiative.
“It is time to renew Baldwinsville’s commitment to area businesses and organizations,” said MaryAnne Williams, executive director of the Greater Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce. “It’s time to unite our local business community in one goal: to encourage villagers to Bee Local.”
The GBCC is encouraging businesses and organizations to join the chamber and become part of this unifying effort. Those that sign up for GBCC membership at the event will receive $10 off the first-year fee.
As part of the Bee Local campaign, which carries a name familiar to area residents, the Baldwinsville Messenger will regularly spotlight one chamber member business. A new logo, created by GBCC Board Member, Scott Deyett, owner and creative director at In House Graphics LLC, will be featured on new door decals and pins for members to highlight participation and support of the program.
“Using local services and buying from local retailers keeps more money in our community and helps create and sustain local jobs,” said Matt Hunt, associate agent, Nationwide Insurance & Financial Services and GBCC board member. “When you find what you need in your own backyard, it increases locally generated revenue and creates a better climate for drawing new business.”
The Greater Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce is a progressive association of businesses and organizations that promotes cooperation within the community, advocates for members, and projects a positive image for the Baldwinsville area. Membership is open to all who are concerned with improving the local economic climate and wish to work with other business people. More information on GBCC member benefits and events is available on
