Critz Farms Harvest Moon Cidery of Cazenovia was recently awarded four medals at the 11th Annual Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition. The event, held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on April 23 and 24, seeks to recognize the finest in fermented apple and pear beverages submitted by commercial producers and amateur cider and perry makers.
Harvest Moon Cidery won bronze medals for its 20 Below ice cider and Heritage Hops, and silver medals for its Cherry Moon and Rippleton Original.
This was the first time Harvest Moon Cidery entered the cider-only competition, and won four medals for the four ciders it entered, said cidery co-owner Juanita Critz.
With a total of 1,003 entries from 282 entrants judged, a total of 73 gold medals, 305 silver medals, and 386 bronze medals were awarded. Entries came from 31 US states and the District of Columbia, five provinces of Canada, five counties of the United Kingdom, and several other nations including France, Spain, Ireland and the Czech Republic, according to competition information.
