Onondaga Community College Vice President for Administration and Compliance Anastasia L. Urtz, J.D., has been named an ACE Fellow by the American Council on Education (ACE) for the 2017-18 academic year.
The ACE Fellows Program is one of the longest running leadership development programs in the United States. Urtz was one of only 46 people selected nationwide.
Since its inception in 1965, the ACE Fellows Program has strengthened institutions in American higher education by identifying and preparing nearly 1,900 faculty, staff and administrators for senior positions in college and university leadership through its distinctive and intensive nominator-driven, cohort-based mentorship model. Of the Fellows who have participated to date, more than 80 percent have gone on to serve as chief executive officers, chief academic officers, other cabinet-level positions and deans following their fellowship.
Urtz, of Cazenovia, joined Onondaga Community College in 2010. In her position, she oversees the Department of Government, Grants and Alumni; Facilities Department; Financial Aid Office; Auxiliary Services and the Office of Sustainability & Environmental Health and Safety.
Urtz serves as general counsel to four affiliated corporations (OCC Association, OCC Foundation, OCC Housing Development Corporation, Onondaga Enterprises, Inc.) and co-counsel to the college, as well as civil rights compliance officer, human protections officer, Title IX coordinator, and START-UP NY coordinator. She also serves as one of the standard co-chairs of the college’s Middle States Commission on Higher Education self-study process and chairs the Institutional Review Board.
Urtz earned a bachelor of arts in political science from American University and a juris doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.
