SKANEATELES — On behalf of the John D. Barrow Art Gallery management committee, I am pleased to introduce Alexandra (Ali) Perry as our new gallery director.
Perry joined the gallery in December 2020 and it has been full speed ahead from the day she arrived.
She has accomplished a number of the gallery’s strategic initiatives, such as implementing a cloud-based catalog of the entire collection, modernizing operations, streamlining the Borrow-a-Barrow process, and reorganizing the gallery ahead of reopening this past Memorial Day weekend.
Perry gained cross-disciplinary experience at leading agencies in Philadelphia and New York City after graduating from Drexel University’s Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts and Design.
Her unique combination of creativity, leadership, and an understanding of business has led to the development of successful brand strategies for a wide range of local and global organizations. These same talents have already had a positive impact on The Barrow, helping the gallery stay true to its mission and values while implementing the well-articulated long-range plan.
Perry’s natural ability to lead teams and build consensus was integral during her seven years of teaching at Drexel University, and a key factor in our decision to bring her on as the gallery director. During her time at Drexel, Perry co-chaired the program’s self-assessment study and developed curriculum to support the resulting action plan.
Having spent nearly twenty years in Philadelphia, Perry and her family recently moved to Skaneateles, craving a deeper connection to nature and the community.
As a community, your support over the years has kept this unique gem alive and prospering. Period.
We appreciate your continued contributions and are looking forward to the renovation of the State Street Gallery entrance, designed to improve safety and increase visibility and visitation to the Gallery.
We are delighted to have such a high energy and passionate leader for The Barrow.
The gallery is now open Thursday-Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
Please stop in to meet Perry, our wonderful docents, and to learn about all the exciting things in store.
