After months on hold, elections will be held in the villages of Minoa and Fayetteville on Sept. 15. Polls are open between noon and 9 p.m. at the respective municipal buildings for in-person voting.
The elections, originally scheduled for March, were postponed because of the pandemic. Because the ballots could not be altered, one trustee candidate on the ballot in Minoa, Matthew Cushing, is now ineligible because he has since moved out of the village.
Minoa Mayor William Brazill is running unopposed to retain his position. Incumbents John Abbott and Eric Christensen and challenger Bobby Schepp are running for two trustee positions.
In Fayetteville, Mayor Mark Olson, Deputy Mayor Dan Kinsella and Trustee Dennis Duggleby are all running unopposed.
The villages will mail out absentee ballot applications up until Sept. 8, and ballots up until Sept. 9. The last day to receive an absentee ballot in person is Sept. 14. All absentee ballots must be received by Sept. 15 to be counted in the election.
