The Franciscan Place will offer a wonderful opportunity for those who are struggling with grief of any kind. Sister Kathleen Osbelt, founder of Francis House, a Syracuse-area home for the dying, is set to give a free lecture, titled, “Journeying Through Grief” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19.
Sister Kathleen will speak on the various aspects of grief and and the importance of hearing the experiences of others to move through your own loss. All are welcome and are asked to RSVP by calling (315) 471-9511.
Sister Kathleen, a Franciscan Sister of the Neumann Community, and originally from Syracuse, is the founder of mission outreach of Francis House. In her 40-plus years of ministry, Sister Kathleen has served as a teacher, hospital chaplain, director of mission effectiveness for the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities, founder of Francis House and is presently director of mission outreach for Francis House.

Founded in 1998, the Franciscan Place is a Catholic chapel and gift shop, located at the Commons level of Destiny USA. It is one of several Franciscan community services run by Assumption Church, Syracuse. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday as a peaceful place for shoppers and members of the community to visit regardless of faith. In addition to Mass and Confession, there are an assortment of books, devotional items, jewelry and statues in display to purchase.
