The League of Women Voters of Cazenovia is planning two programs to inform voters about the upcoming general election on Nov. 7. All are welcome to these programs.
On Thursday, Oct. 5, there will be a discussion about the possibility of a New York State Constitutional Convention.
Ballot proposal number one on Nov. 7 asks, “Shall there be a convention to revise the Constitution and amend the same?” If voters say “Yes,” what issues could be dealt with at a convention; how would delegates be elected; and what are the arguments in favor of or against a constitutional convention?
Laura Ladd Bierman, executive director of the LWVNY; Jennifer Wilson, director of program and policy of the LWVNY; and Blair Horner, executive director of the New York Public Interest Research Group will explain the process and the arguments pro and con.
The program will be held at 6 p.m. in the Cazenovia Public Library community room.
On Thursday, Oct. 19, there will be a candidate forum for the elective offices on the ballot. In the first part of the program, the candidates for Madison County clerk and Madison County sheriff will introduce themselves to the voters. Then the three candidates for two positions on the Cazenovia Town Board will answer questions submitted by the audience about issues facing the Town of Cazenovia.
This program will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Cazenovia Public Library community room.
The LWV also reminds residents that Oct. 13 is the last day to postmark a voter registration form or register in person at the Madison County Board of Elections. It is also the last day to change party enrollment in advance of the 2018 primaries.
