No fee will be charged for use

The village of Cazenovia will soon offer free electric car charging at two new charging stations to be installed in Lakeland Park. The stations were approved by the village board of trustees last week, and installation — which was delayed due to the recent winter storm that hit the area — is expected to occur once the weather clears.
The charging station will be in one location and offer two Bosch Level 2 chargers. No fee will be charged to use the chargers, instead, some sort of sign or box will be erected to ask for donations.
Mayor Kurt Wheeler said the idea to install the chargers was to support sustainable energy uses in the village — it is one of four green energy action items the village is currently undertaking that will also make Cazenovia eligible for state grant money — as well as a nice boost to local tourist appeal.
Public Works Administrator Bill Carr said DPW crews will install the new chargers by the Lakeland Park bathhouse as soon as the snow breaks. They will have to connect the bathhouse electricity to the chargers and install some sort of pedestal on which to hold the chargers, he said. “It will be a rustic more than a commercialized look,” he said.
Empire Farmstead Brewery is currently the only other place in Cazenovia to offer car charging stations for electric vehicles.
