Artist – Susan O’Brien
Working with both my mind and my hands to create unique and beautiful jewelry has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. Creating jewelry has mostly been a hobby until July, 2015, when, with the support of my husband, Thomas, I quit my full-time “day job” as an administrative assistant to become a full-time jewelry artist.
I am primarily a self-taught metalsmith, working in silver, copper, bronze, and occasionally gold, and currently work out of my small but well-outfitted home studio, with a larger studio space in the works. My jewelry pieces begin life as raw metal in sheet and wire form. During the creation process, I utilize many traditional metalsmithing techniques such as soldering, fold forming, forging, stone setting, etc., as well as hard enameling. I am also a certified PMC (Precious Metal Clay) artist working in all forms of metal clay and powder.
My design inspirations can come from anywhere and at any time. Nature, travel, archaeology and architecture are some of my biggest influences and my creations encompass a broad range of styles from heavily textured and organic looking to simple geometric shapes and clean lines. When I am not in my studio creating beautiful things for others, and occasionally myself, to wear, I can usually be found indulging in one of my other passions which include motorcycling, international travel, photography, graphic design and anything at all having to do with nature.
I continue to be grateful for the opportunity that I’ve been given to turn my artistic visions into tangible works of art for others to discover, wear and enjoy. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me, my background and my influences.
Wine Tasting
The Chateau Dusseau opened its doors in 2006, co-founded by brothers Robert and Stephen Dusseau.
Long time farmers and hobbyist wine makers, it was only a matter of time before Stephen and Robert would plant their first varietals in the Spring of 2001.
With intense enthusiasm and the support of friends and family, a vineyard was established with planting of a variety of grapes with the goal of determining which would do the best in the local climate and soil.
Today, the vineyard holds primarily Aurora and Frontenac grapes. These have proven to be the most productive and hearty of the initial varietals planted, and have found a long term home at the Chateau Dusseau. For more information visit the web site at
