Cicero-North Syracuse had broken a weeks-long drought with a 2-0 win over Guilderland on Sept. 26, but two days later it again could not get on the scoreboard at Auburn, taking a 1-0 defeat to the Maroons.
Much of the game was a clash between the Northstars’ fledgling attack and Auburn goalkeeper Ally Nicolisi. No matter what it did, C-NS could not get anything past Nicolisi, who stopped all 15 shots she faced.
Meanwhile, the Northstars’ defense also proved tough, Olivia Haven recording six saves, but in the second half the Maroons broke through when Lacey Netti scored off a feed from Marguerite Cuddy, and Auburn held on from there.
C-NS again was kept off the board Thursday night in a 3-0 defeat to Baldwinsville. Haven had seven saves, but the Bees grabbed a 2-0 edge by halftime and went from there, Jade Gentile twice finding the net and Bella May adding the other goal. The Northstars saw none of its six shots get past B’ville goalies Mackenzie Hanna and Julia George.
At 2-8, the Northstars would then join Liverpool on its trip to Oneonta, where it played Chenango Forks to a 1-1 draw. Leading 1-0 at the half thanks to Ciera Murphy’s goal, C-NS could not hang on, instead hoping that it could find some kind of form this Thursday against West Genesee.
