Only one week after Cazenovia police began investigating a reported break-in burglary at Caz Sports Bowl at 3 Carriage Lane behind Tops, a second burglary of the bowling alley has allegedly occurred.
According to Cazenovia police, sometime during the early morning hours of Tuesday, Sept. 22, to Wednesday, Sept. 23, a currently unknown suspect(s) forced entry into Caz Sports Bowl and stole “a couple thousand dollars.” This follows on the incident that occurred during the early morning hours of Sept. 15 when a Cazenovia police officer on routine patrol noticed a missing plywood window covering at the bowling alley, which was at that time undergoing renovations. A subsequent investigation uncovered a “couple of thousand dollars” in cash allegedly stolen from the business, according to police.
In addition to these two incidents, police are also investigating a reported break-in burglary during the late night/early morning hours of Sept. 13 to 14, when one or more persons broke into the Cazenovia Apartments at 24 Nelson St. and allegedly stole a “couple hundred dollars” in quarters from the laundry room, according to police.
Police Chief Michael Hayes said all three incidents are still under investigation. He said he could not release whether police are seeking multiple suspects or the same suspect(s) for all three incidents. He encourages any residents with information concerning ongoing investigations or other crime tips to call the Cazenovia Police Department at 655-3276. Leave a message if an officer does not answer the phone. All calls and tips will remain confidential.
